Totally Tickled

I've got a big ole smile on my face here. The owners of two blogs that I quite enjoy have commented on my blog. Gotta love that. I'm a major lurker on blogs. I kind of like the idea of "spying" on people's lives without them knowing I'm there. LOL Nah, I'm actually just very shy 99% of the time. You can stop giggling now Allyson. :OP

I don't think I'm going to be getting much knitting time in this weekend. My mom brought me over a loveseat for my living room and of course my house was a wreck. She says she is coming over to clean. *groan* She took my son over to her house tonight, so I better get my butt off of here and do some cleaning before she bring him home or she will be here bright and early tomorrow to clean house. I always feel horrible when she does that. My health is just so crappy right now and I hurt my back last week. It is just hard to keep up with picking up after my son. He is the king of destroying a room in 5 minutes flat.

On the good side, I did get 3 tags out to my tag partner today. To make things even better, I went ahead and ran a script to make them for my always list too. I've got one set of them uploaded already. I'm going to have to delete tags from one of my sites to make room for the new tags, so I'll wait until tomorrow so that they have a chance to check for tags before they go poof. I'm still working on getting old tags uploaded to my Anzwers site. I need to create an index for the individual tag pages yet. I did manage to find my thumbnail program to speed things up.

Well time to scoot. Lord only knows what time Mom is going to bring the munchkin home.

*sigh*

I had to make a visit to the frog pond last night. I had to frog my whole sweater. Somewhere along the line I counted wrong or I measured my swatch wrong. I dunno, I guess I was just being blonde. Anyway, I tried the sweater on when I was at about 15 rows and I swear there would have been enough room for 3 of me if I had finished it. If you knew me, you would know just how big that would be. LOL Let's just say that I'm not a twig or a model wanna be.

I started over again today with it. I casted on fewer stitches than I figured I would need and then after the ribbing, which I did with US8 again, I increased on two rows to add 30 more stitches. I read on a blog that you should make your cast on smaller than the rest of the sweater. We shall see sometime tomorrow if this one is going to fit or if it is going to be ripped too. lol

I've got to go in in the morning for blood work and then I'm going to work on one of my web sites. I'm uploading a bunch of my old e-mail tags for people to snag. I've got a folder with about 40 requests for tags that I need to fill. I've been putting it off for quite awhile. I'm glad I finally got control of my site again so I could remove the request page. One of these days I'll get around to making the tags. *yeah right* hehehehehe

Time for bed....

I'm a good girl now

I've been a busy little knitting bee the last few days. I've finally started my sweater!!!!! List mommy isn't going to be happy that I've violated the major theme of the knit-a-long. It is a top down knit-a-long and I've started at the bottom. LOL So I guess I'm not that good of a girl, but at least I've got it going now. I'm not following a pattern on this one. I think I have pattern aversion disorder. hehehe I do know how to follow them but there aren't that many free patterns for us big girls. Basically I swatched my yarn first using size 8 needles and realized that 1) It was going to take forever to get a sweater done on size 8 needles and 2) The fabric was just too tight. So then I swatched with size 10s which is what the yarn calls for anyway. Hmmmmm maybe those labels do have the right info on them sometimes. :OP My gauge was even the same as the label. I'm amazed!!

After I did my swatch, I measured a good fitting t-shirt. I can not stand tight clothes and I wear all my shirts kind of baggy. I've got about 8 inches of ease. It may be a bit excessive but oh well. I cast on using size 8 needles and did 4 rows of k1p1 ribbing. Then I switched over to my size 10 needles and began working in stockingnette. Boring I know but I'm using Bernat Soft Boucle and any sort of pattern is going to get lost in it. I'm going to knit up to the arm holes and then work the back and front separately. I don't know if I'm going to try the 3 needle bind off or get real adventurous and do the kirtchner stitch. Doubt I spelled that right. LOL Not 100% sure if I'm going to do any neck shaping first or not. I want to do a cowl neck so I might do at least some shaping.

In other good news my vest is coming along great. I'm about to head over on to the back. I just need to measure, measure, measure for how many stitches I need to cast on for the neck. I've got the length of the 2 front pieces just about perfect I think. I can't believe I finally have them done. hehehe Only been working on it for a year.

I'm finally done with the white dazzelaire slipper socks that I was doing for a knit-a-long. I'm pretty proud of them. I finally got the toes right. When I did the green socks I was doing the kirtchner stitch backwards. I was actually making the stitches purl. ooops But hey, I don't actually have anyone to teach me this stuff in person. It so sucks not knowing anyone that knits or crochets. I'm going to try and find the cord to connect my camera up to my pc and post some pictures of my finished work and my WIPs. I haven't used the camera in a year cause it sucks so badly. But, what do you expect for $50. *shrugs*

Enough blabber for now. I'm pooped and I have to shoot NetZero cause I've been disconnected 5 times in the last 15 mins.

I'm a baaaaad girl

Well I haven't as yet started my sweater. I've got all the yarn and the needles that I need. I don't really have an LYS other than Michael's, Hobby Lobby and Wally World, so I haven't been able to get the right length of circular needles. I don't feel like ordering them off the net. I mean cripes, why can't they sell 16" circulars in the regular stores. All I can find are 29" ones. I'm going to fanagle it with two sets of double points to do the neck. I'm having trouble deciding what I want to do with the neck. The pattern calls for ribbing but I would kind of like a loose turtle neck or cowel neck. I'm thinking I'll start off the sweater on a chain and figure the neck out later.

I just got two books of plus sized sweater patterns, so I'm really getting in the mood for knitting some big things now. Only problem is the one book calls for Homespun for all the sweaters. I'm sorry but there is no way I'm making a sweater with that crap. I made an afghan for my bed with it and love it but no way would I wear a sweater made of it out of the house. I made my son a hat with some and the darn thing stretched out completely and even washing didn't make it spring back in to shape. I'm not one to do gauge swatches and stuff but I guess I'm going to have to do something to find a yarn that is close to the same gauge. I can only afford the cheap stuff but no way am I going with Red Heart. LOL OK so I do have a vest I'm designing out of the stuff but I just loved the colors and am hoping that washing it will soften it up some.

Ok I need to get my butt to bed. I have to be up in 4 hours to get the kid on the bus. *groan* I'm really going to give this blog thing a try. Not that I expect anyone to read it. roflmao
