Yeah baby

Ok, so I don't have pictures for ya. I just got home from Wal-Mart. I tell ya, I love having a superstore in town. Got my meds, some food and some glue stuff to put my bed back together. Yes, I know that Wal-Mart is evil. But, I'm poor. Don't want me shopping at Wal-Mart, send me lots of money. hehehe

Got myself some new video tapes. I'm so damn tired of Dr. Phil sounding like a chipmunk and then sounding like a demon the next moment. I only tape a few shows during the day. Starting Over, Jeopardy, Dr. Phil and Oprah. I usually don't watch Oprah but sometimes she has something good on. I technically record Who Wants to be a Millionaire. It is easier to tape 3 straight hours of the same channel and fast forward through it than have two separate programs. I would rather save those spots for recording at night when I'm gone. hehe

Anyways, I got my car back. The folks paid for it cause it was a problem they should have found a while ago. Dad thought it was just a belt going bad. I also have my e-mail back. YYEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got tons and tons of mail to go through. Lots of it is spam. Big surprise. hehe I haven't been able to read new mail since Saturday morning. I'm gonna be a busy chickie for awhile.

I know tired

And man am I tired. I haven't been sleeping for shit and as a result I'm a damn zombie 80% of the time.

Yesterday was a shitty day. I was on my way home from work and planning in my mind the errands I was going to run once the kid got home from school. That's when my car died on a busy highway. I sat there for half an hour while cars and trucks sped past me. Not one of the bastards stopped.

Thankfully I had my cell with me and mom showed up with the gas can. Well it wasn't the low gas level that caused the problem. Turns out my alternator died. Dad thought the battery just died so he bought a new one and the car did start but it was acting funny. It's in the shop, so I have to wait for Mom to come drive me to work. Big whoop.

Maybe tonight I'll do an update on the socks and shawl. I've made a bit of progress on each.

Sock news

I've been working on my wave socks at work. I can usually get about 4 rows done per break. Well that is if I shut up and knit. hehehe

I started out working 5 knit stitches between the peaks and valleys.

The arrows point to the lil poofy spots I was talkin about the other day.

Here is the sock I started working with 2 knits stitches between the peaks and valleys.

I guess you can tell that I like this version a lot better. hehe I really like how the colors are swirling around the sock.

Here is a lovely picture of the foot with the sock on. hehe Yes, my feet are huge. 12 wide in women's. I usually wear men's shoes.

The blanket behind the foot is an afghan that has been in progress for the rugrat for over a year. I just have to weave in the ends and put a border on it. It is some dog cartoon that is popular in Europe but I don't know what it is called. I took a cross stitch pattern and made a larger graph to work in afghan stitch on a really large wooden hook.

Well, time for me to hit the sack. I'm beat.

Happy Easter

Man this weekend has been long. Spent the day at my folk's house. My bro and his gal came over too. She has some projects that she wants me to do for their wedding. She wants me to make a ring bearer's pillow and cover a box for their cards. Poor girl doesn't realize I'm not really a good sewer. hehehe

Work on the MS2 is kind of stalled. I ripped out all the border that I did. For some reason right around the beginning of the border the yarn got totally snagged. I ended up cutting it. whhhhaaaaaa!!!! I think I did a pretty good job at spit splicing it. We shall see. I started working another border by the seat of my pants but bleehhhhhh. I didn't like it, so I ripped it out too. I'm thinking about using one of the final charts from the MS1. I just have to figure out how many stitches are on the needles and if I can fit the chart repeats in there without fudging too much.

I've also decided to play with some sock yarn. I've really wanted to try two socks at once from the toe up. Yeahhhhhhh Not so fun. hehe I decided to use a short row toe after reading stuff on Wendy's blog and a couple of patterns. Of course I couldn't find one pattern that I really liked. So I'm fudging it. This means that there has been a whole lot of ripping goin on. I found it impossible to work the short row toe with both socks on the circs. I ended up working them via the magic loop method and switching back and forth. I tried like hell to match up the color changes but some how it doesn't look just right. I'm using Bernat Sox in Jazz Hot. I didn't want to chance messing up my Lorna's Laces. bawk bawk

I started out with 36 sitches and worked the short row toe. Then I increased 3 stitches and tried to work a half assed ripple pattern. (K1, YO, K5, K2tog, SSK, K5, YO) I worked 3 repeats across the top of the foot and did the bottom plain. Well, the decreases made weird pouches on the top of the foot. So I ripped back one of them. I undid the increases. I'm now doing the ripple as: (K1, YO, K2, K2tog, SSK, K2, YO) I'm hoping this causes less pouching. I'm doing 4 repeats across the top of the foot and the bottom plain. Once I get my act together and have some real progress, I'll post some pictures.

I was playing on eBay again today. Bad idea. hehe I bid on 8 issues of Knitter's, 3 issues of Vogueknitting and a lot of 6 BHG Easy Knitting mags. I ended up winning 7 issues of Knitter's at $2 each and 2 issues of VK at $2 each. All of the mags are from before I started knitting. Once can never have too many knitting mags. hehe The one issue os Knitter's that I didn't win went for $12. sheeeeeeeesh Sure hope the winner loves it. hehe But hey, I got 9 magazines for $18. I'm waiting for a shipping quote from the seller. I don't think it should be too high.

Anyways, I'm off to do some cleaning. My mom is watching the kid tomorrow while I'm working. She is gonna kick my butt for not having the dishes done. hehe

Wednesday Blahs

I'm feeling at odds lately and have a massive case of the blahs right now. My house is a complete mess and my mom will be here tomorrow to wait for Nick after school. They are getting out an hour early for the holidays. Wish I got to come home an hour early. hehe

Work has been going pretty good. I just wish they would get the new machine in the department I work in. I get along with pretty much everyone at work. There is one female in particular that I just can't stand. She will disagree with anything I might have to say no matter what it is. She has no concept of current events or pop culture. It is impossible to hold a conversation with her. She has also lied about things that have to do with me to save her own ass and in the process made it look like I was lying. Hopefully the shift supervisor realized she was lying.

Odessa has been frogged. I dropped a stitch and I just couldn't fix it through all the fuzz and using 2 strands didn't help. I've cast on for it again but it is taking a rest for now.

I'm working the edge on the MS2 shawl. It is going to take a while because it is 25 stitches wide. I'm actually thinking about putting the shawl on a safety line and measuring it. I'm getting nervous that it might end up too small. I'm sure that I will be able to use one of the motifs from the shawl and figure out a repeat that will work.

I've been playing on eBay again. I just got another 5 skeins of alpaca fingering weight yarn. Can ya tell I love this stuff?? hehe This time it is black. I also got 2 skeins of some New Zealand sport weight in a pretty brown. I've got another large skein of it coming in oatmeal. I'm hoping to be able to get gauge to make Alishar. Yes, I know it calls for worsted weight, but welllllllllll.

I've also come across some magazines and patterns. I won 3 magazines on eBay; Fall 2004 Knitter's, Winter 2004 IK, and Holiday 2004 Vogueknitting. There are several patterns in each magazine that I like. They all are from before I started buying knitting magazines. I'm in serious need of more knitting magazines. hehe

As for patterns, off of eBay I've gotten pattern no. 1182 Medley Bulky Cardigan, pat no. 1176 Fleece Cowl Neck Pullover, pat no. 1178 Pele Polo Shirt, and pat no. 1174 Mia Sweatshirt. All from Knit One Crochet Too. I'm pretty sure they all came from the same seller. Well at least the last 3 were anyway. hehe From an online store I got 5 Delta Burke Collection knitting patterns on clearance. The honeycomb cardigan, cabled pullover, cabled cardigan, garter rib cardigan and pointelle pullover. I so love the Delta Burke Collection. I already had 2 other leaflets from the collection. It is so nice to have some patterns that I won't have to alter to make fit my big ole butt. If I can't get the NZ wool to work for Alishar, I'll make one of the DB patterns with it I guess.

Anyways, time to go clean and do some wash. Then I'm gonna watch Lost and pass out. hehe

Happy Blogivirsary to Me

Unbelievably, I've been blogging for one year now. It doesn't seem like it has been that long. I originally started blogging because of a knitalong. I never did finish that sweater. It's sitting in a box under my desk. Someday I'll finish it. I need to do the neck and the sleeves. The body is finished. Someday.

Kinky Bastage!!

I started going to physical therapy last week for dizzy spells and back pain. The therapist is a real sweet guy but man is he kinky. He is totally in to bondage. He calls it "take therapy" but it's bondage just the same. I sure as hell had trouble moving when he was done trussing me up. hehehe

Actually, he put some hypoallergenic tape on my back and then some heavy brown tape. He used the brown tape to hold my shoulders back so I was in a super straight stance. He says this takes the pressure and strain off of the muscles in my back that are causing me trouble. I couldn't lift my arms very well and turning my head was almost impossible. Don't ask me how I managed to drive the 20 miles to my mom's house to get the kid. hehe I left the tape on for about 4 hours. By that time the muscles in my shoulders that the tape was pulling on were starting to get tired.

I had mom take the tape off for me. Most of it was fine but when she got to my left shoulder, I thought I was gonna start screaming. I had to take that part of the tape off myself. It hurt so freakin bad I wanted to cry. The skin was super sensitive for about an hour and was red for about 2 hours. But boy howdy did my lower back feel awesome after the tape came off. I'm not sure if I'm gonna let him tape me up again next Friday. I guess it will depend on how much my back hurts by then. hehehe

In knitting news, I haven't been working on the shawl. I had been workin on the hat but today I messed it up and will have to spend some time tinking a bit. I've mostly been working on a filet crochet kerchief. I'm using a pattern of my own that shows 4 roses in the middle and a simple check border. I'm using some blue variegated cotton thread. I had hoped it would look like one of those blue plates that people collect. You can't really see the roses because the thread is too busy. Oh well. I'm making it to wear in the car. When I put the windows down or open the sunroof my hair goes all over the damn place. It drives me bonkers. I don't care if I look like a dork. I just don't want my hair all freaky. hehe I'll have a picture of it when I get it done. I've only got one tie and the edge to finish. Time for a nap. I was up at 3am so I could get to work at 5. groan

project pics

Here are a few pics of my progress so far.

My fuzzy Odessa. It is a little farther along now as I've knit on it today at breaks.

And here is the latest on the MS2.

I've been too tired and too busy to flash my stash. I have a garage sale to get ready for on Friday. Big yippy. NOT!! I hate garage sale season. Well the hosting part not the shopping.

I suck

Well I was hoping to get some pictures of the stash today. Didn't happen. My folks picked up a new bed for my son. I was only going to buy a cheap one, but Mom said she found one that should last the little turd 15 years. That means I shouldn't have to buy him one again. Nick and I had to clean his room and get the old bed out and then help my dad move the new one in. It is mega comfy and I warned Nick that if he won't stay in it all night I'll sleep in it. heh

We spent the afternoon and evening at my folk's house. I made the big mistake of trying to knit while watching King Kong in the dark. I say try because the shawl now has to be ripped back about 8 rows because once again, I dropped some stitches. It's impossible to pick them back up because they went down a couple rows and undid some SSKs and YOs. I'm glad that Renee included plain purl rows every once in awhile.

I also had to rip back my version of Odessa. Once again it was dropped stitches that did me in. Picking up stitches in fun fur is basically impossible. hehehe I have to cut some of the yarn off at the beginning of the skein too. The lil hairs got all twisted and knotted up. Oh well. Each skein is 600 yards, so I'm not in jeopardy of running out. Unless of course I keep messing it up and having to cut stuff off the skein. heh

I'm a bit peeved at the moment. I hate having to rip projects out. I've got to get some stuff together for a garage sale tomorrow, so I probably won't get to take pictures tomorrow either. What I really want to do is sleep tomorrow though. hehehe
